Art
Many of my works touch on digital themes. I really love depicting a web-based UI in traditional media. I think it makes for a very interesting contrast of the 'imperfections' of the traditional media and the expected details of an online environment. I also really like playing with historical interests of mine; the German Expressionism movement has inspired most of my relief prints, for example. I also really enjoy taking a painterly approach towards digital art in particular; you'll see that in a lot of my shading. I often try to lean into that novice-ness to make artwork that is, on a meta level, kind of about being a novice; stuff like drawing on old MS Paint drawings kids would do in the early 2000s. It's an interesting style I think!
A lot of my digital artwork was done for the yearly Art Fight event! It's a month-long game where participants draw other people's characters for free. If you'd like to learn more, please see their website. These days, I use Krita for my digital art, but in the past I have used CLIP Studio Paint. When I swapped to Linux, I decided to give Krita a shot, and it does everything I want. I also sometimes use ProCreate on my partner's iPad! It has some very unique brushes that blend super nicely.
In terms of printmaking, I have done lithography, intaglio, silkscreen, and linocut reliefs. My favorite method was definitely silkscreen, but as I no longer have access to a printmaking studio, I unfortunately can't make more :-( I still like to make carvings from time to time, though!
